Medal of Honor recipient dedicates Gold Star Monument

The Colorado Freedom Memorial Foundation unveiled the new Gold Star Families Memorial Monument Oct. 14, 2020, at the Colorado Freedom Memorial in Aurora, Colo. The Woody Williams Foundation, founded by World War II Medal of Honor recipient Hershel "Woody" Williams, dedicated this monument to the Coloradan families who have had loved ones either killed or missing in action.

The presentation started with speeches from Mike Coffman, Mayor of Aurora, U.S. Rep. Jason Crow, Colorado's 6th congressional district congressman, U.S. Army Brig. Gen. Laura Clellan, the Adjutant General of Colorado, and many others.

The unveiling of the monument was carried out by some of Buckley Air Force Bases Senior Enlisted Leaders, followed by them placing a yellow rose on the monument. After the closing remarks, Gold Star families and other attendees were allowed to lay a yellow rose onto the Gold Star Families Memorial Monument.
