Chief Master Sergeant Charles Shurchay is the Senior Enlisted Leader, Space Base Delta 2, headquartered at Buckley Space Force Base, Colorado. He is the principle advisor to the commander on all matters affecting the welfare, readiness, morale, training, professional development, and proper utilization of Garrison personnel delivering Base Operational Support at 14 operating locations world-wide, executing critical United States Space Force Missile Warning and Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance missions. In addition, the Garrison hosts 6 wings (or equivalents) and 101 tenant organizations as well as supporting over 14,000 base personnel and a 98,000-retiree population.
Chief Shurchay grew up in Mesa, Arizona and entered the Air Force in October 1998. He graduated from the Security Forces course at Lackland AFB, Texas in February 1999. In April 2002 he retrained into the Space Operations career field. His background includes various duties in Law Enforcement, Command and Control, Space Domain Awareness, Military Satellite Communications, Space-Based Infrared Operations, Inspections, Test and Evaluation, Professional Military Instructor, Major Command Career Field Functional Manager, and leadership at squadron through Field Command levels. His stateside assignments include bases in Alabama, California, Colorado, and Nevada.
