Monarch Migration: Winged Wonders on the Move

Every year monarch butterflies make a multi-generational migration across North America to overwintering sites in Mexico and California, with many passing through Colorado along the way. Buckley Space Force Base is one of many locations across the Department of Defense where wildlife biologists are working to monitor and restore habitat for monarchs to help facilitate this migration.

"The first time I launched, my rocket didn't go where it was supposed to go, it had an in-flight anomaly, came apart and we landed in the middle of the Kazakhstan step,” said U.S. Space Force Col. AFRL leads USSF Continuous Fitness Assessment study

The Air Force Research Laboratory, or AFRL, is conducting a two-year voluntary study with Guardians to assess the use of wearable fitness devices that measure physical activity. The study, which began enrollment in May 2023, is part of the U.S. Space Force’s Continuous Fitness Assessment, or CFA, line of effort.
