Colonel Liana L. Vogel serves as the Commander, 460th Medical Group, Buckley Space Force Base, Colorado. In this role, she is responsible for the health care delivered to over 94,000 beneficiaries by 225 military, civilian, and contract personnel operating under a $12M budget. By ensuring mobility-ready medics and Airmen, the group supports the critical mission set of the Buckley Garrison, Space Delta 4, and 117 mission partners by executing cost-effective, accessible, community-based healthcare and promoting healthy lifestyles through preventive medical services. Prior to her current assignment, Colonel Vogel served as the Administrator, 59th Medical Operations Group, Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas where she oversaw healthcare administration for a multi-campus organization with over 1,300 medical professionals in 43 specialties providing operational and expeditionary medical care to over 254,000 beneficiaries in the Department of Defense’s largest ambulatory surgical care facility.
Colonel Vogel graduated with honors from Concordia Lutheran University at Austin with a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics and Education in 1992. She received a Master of Science in Human Resources Management from Troy University in 1998. After 8 years of public service to the State of Texas, she received a direct commission into the Air Force and began serving in the Medical Service Corps in January 2005. Over the past 18 years, she has commanded two Squadrons, served as the Director of Operations at an Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron, and completed a Plans and Operations Readiness Fellowship. Additionally, she deployed to Balad Air Base in May 2007 in support of OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM and earned her board certification with the American Academy of Medical Administrators (CAAMA) in 2014. She is also credentialed as a Certified Materials & Resource Professional (CMRP). Colonel Vogel is married to Lt Col (Retired) Nathan “BAR” Vogel. Together they have five children and three grandchildren.
