Chief Master Sergeant Ben Johnson serves as the Senior Enlisted Airman, Space Base Delta 2, Buckley Space Base, Colorado. In this capacity, he is the principal advisor to the installation commander on all matters concerning morale, welfare, training, climate, readiness, and professional development of 1,020 personnel delivering Base Operational Support at 14 operating locations world-wide, executing critical United States Space Force Missile Warning and Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance missions. In addition, the installation hosts 6 wings (or equivalents) and 117 mission partners as well as supporting over 12,000 base personnel and a 98,000 retiree population.
Chief Johnson grew up in Lincoln, Nebraska, enlisting in the Air Force in September 2000. He has deployed to multiple contingency locations in support of Operations INHERENT RESOLVE, FREEDOM’S SENTINEL, SPARTAN SHIELD, ENDURING FREEDOM, and IRAQI FREEDOM. He holds Air Force Specialty Codes in Civil Engineering, Deployment Management, Information Management, Communications, and Cyberspace career fields. Prior to this assignment, Chief Johnson served as Senior Enlisted Leader of the 633rd Mission Support Group, Joint Base Langley Eustis, Virginia.
