Maj. Jennifer Titkemeier took command of the 460th Security Forces Squadron from Maj. Matthew Brill, June 28, 2018, on Buckley Air Force Base, Colorado.

Col. Shawn Thompson, 460th Mission Support Group commander, presided over the ceremony and transferred the guidon from Brill to Titkemeier, symbolizing the change of authority from one member to the other.

As part of their arrival, each new commander is asked a series of questions to show Team Buckley their personality.

Here’s Titkemeier’s First Five:

Q: Your Airmen are responsible for the safety of the base and its members. What characteristics do you expect from a Security Forces Airman?

A: I would say the most important characteristics are confidence and courage. When we need to react, there can be no hesitation. Having confidence and courage tells me they are prepared for whatever they might face and are ready do what is necessary to keep the base safe and secure.

Q: Which of the three core values do you find most important and why?

A: The most important core value, to me, is Integrity First. Integrity and honesty are critical in building trust and I think building trust in your unit is one of the best things you can do for your unit's success.

Q: What lesson have you learned in your career that you've kept with you?

A: Control what you can control. There will never be enough time to experience or accomplish everything you want. There are so many opportunities in the Air Force: places to go, jobs to have, people to work with and we control so little. Prioritize, set goals, take advantage of every opportunity and enjoy every moment!

Q: You're auditioning for American Idol. What song are you singing and why?

A: I would sing any Disney song; my daughters are two and five, so we listen to a lot of Disney songs.

Q: If you were able to pick a celebrity to be your police partner, who would you choose and why?

A: Kevin Hart would be my partner. He proved himself in Ride Along and I love his comedy.
