As you probably have noticed, we've begun work on the Mississippi Gate. So far, construction has not impacted traffic coming on or off the base. This, however, will change starting June 12.

To minimize the impact to the morning commute, to keep the construction efforts on track, and to ensure the safety of all personnel, we are changing the operating hours and traffic flow of the Mississippi, Telluride and Sixth Avenue gates. These changes will take effect June 12 and will last until December of this year, when construction is scheduled to be complete.

The changes are as follows:

We are asking all base personnel use the Telluride and Sixth Avenue. gates as the Mississippi gate will be for construction vehicles only. We will not deny private vehicle traffic through the Mississippi gate, but all construction vehicles will have priority. Therefore, it might take vehicles a long time to process through the gate. Private vehicle traffic will be able to leave through the Mississippi Gate after 8 a.m., Monday through Friday. If you decide to travel through the Mississippi Gate construction zone, please watch for flaggers and lane or traffic changes.

Changes to the Mississippi Gate:
- Gate hours will be from 4:30 a.m. - 8:30 p.m. beginning June 12.
-The gate will be in-bound only from 6 - 8 a.m. Monday through Friday beginning June 14.
- Only one in-bound and one out-bound lane will be open beginning June 14.
- Speed Limit from the gate to Aspen Way will drop to 15 miles per hour.

Changes to the Telluride Gate beginning June 14:
- Gate will be open from 6 a.m. - 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.
- Gate will be out-bound only from 2 p.m. - 6 p.m. Fridays.

Changes to the Sixth Avenue Gate beginning June 14:
- Increased construction traffic departing, 6 - 8 a.m.
- Increased construction traffic entering
- Additional identification checkers from 6 - 8 a.m.
