Panther of the Week: Brett Garrett Published Oct. 2, 2015 By 460th Space Wing Public Affairs BUCKLEY AIR FORCE BASE, Colo -- Name: Capt. Brett Garrett, 460th Space Wing Office of the Staff Judge Advocate Length of Service: 5 years Hometown: Cincinnati, OH Hobbies: Traveling (especially to the beach), skiing, being outdoors, and cooking. Unique fact: He used to own thoroughbred racehorses, including a partial share of one that was the offspring of the 2001 Kentucky Derby Winner, Monarchos. He was able to break even financially . . . for one month. Garrett is originally from Cincinnati, Ohio, and is a huge Reds and Bengals fan. As an alumnus of the University of Cincinnati, he is also a Bearcats supporter. His wife Jackie, is from Waterville, Ohio. Garrett entered the JAG Corps through the Air Force Educational Delay Program, becoming a JA in March of 2014. He joined the Air Force because he always wanted to be in the military and wanted to follow in the footsteps of his father, who is an Air Force veteran. At Buckley AFB, Garrett currently serves as the Chief of Military Justice, in charge of all courts-martial processing and adverse actions, including nonjudicial punishment (Article 15), discharges, etc. "Most notably, Garret contributed a significant amount of time, and late nights, arranging and securing the confinement of a military member that made physical threats towards his command, no incident occurred. He also has done extremely fast prep to allow a successful 48-hour confinement review and 72-hour review. He also made all the arrangements for the pretrial confinement hearing. In the midst of this, Garrett arranged for a briefing on potential financial scams by the Security Exchange Commission on Buckley AFB. This is a great way to educate our populace and protect them potentially fraudulent activities. He was also chiefly responsible for authoring and creating the Buckley AFB Private Organization /Unofficial Activity Guide that was a top priority for the boss and was completed within a week. He also stood up a booth on his own initiative for veterans in Aurora, advertising legal assistance services for retirees and their dependents." -Lt. Col. Drew Roberts, 460th Space Wing Office of the Staff Judge Advocate commander.
