Buckley Attic revamped; ready for business Published April 2, 2015 By Luke W. Nowakowski 460th Space Wing Public Affairs BUCKLEY AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. -- The Buckley Attic on Buckley Air Force Base has been reorganized and is looking for donations, customers and volunteers to come through its doors. The attic has recently received a makeover that makes it easier for customers to find items they need. Over the past couple of months, the attic has denied donations due to the overflow of items it was receiving. However, the attic recently began accepting donations again due to its reorganization, which reduced clutter and now makes it easier for customers to find the goods they need. "We gave the attic a facelift," said Master Sgt. Jose Cortes, Buckley Attic manager. "Now all items are grouped together, so you have a women's section, a men's section and a children's section." The attic, which is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday each week from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., is now holding all-ranks day every Friday, and is even opening once a month on a Saturday. "Here, we are in a unique situation where we don't have a large military population so the attic isn't getting utilized," Cortes said. "That's why we open it to all ranks on Fridays to try and get the inventory moving." The attic offers Team Buckley members a place to find all types of goods. From children's clothes and toys, to furniture, to uniforms, the attic is a place to find free gently used goods. "In my opinion, the best thing we have is children's clothes because kids grow so fast," said Staff Sgt. Ryan Ramsauer, Buckley Attic volunteer. A revamped attic promises a more convenient browsing experience due to the re-organization of the attic's inventory. The attic is no longer filled with scattered black bags full of an assortment of clothing. The attic is still looking for volunteers and organization materials such as selves and racks to continue the improvements being made. To contact the attic, call 720-847-7227. The attic is always looking for volunteers, along with a lead volunteer. If interested in volunteering, call the Airman and Family Readiness Center at 720-847-6681.
