Preparing for the Command Cyber Readiness Inspection Published March 20, 2015 By Senior Airman Joshua Smith 460th Space Wing Space Communications Squadron BUCKLEY AIR FORCE BASE, Colo.- -- The 460th Space Communications Squadron will be preparing for the Command Cyber Readiness Inspection by ensuring Team Buckley's computer systems are compliant, ready and secure beginning in April. The CCRI, occurring July 20-24, is a triennial inspection conducted by the Defense Information Systems Agency to assess the compliance status and operational readiness of Buckley's networks and supporting security practices. A DISA inspection team will inspect work centers for adherence to security standards by base networks and information systems. They will also look at the base's technical and operational adherence to Department of Defense standard practices and policies, which includes non-secure and secure network compliance, physical security and Information Assurance practices. "It's important that military members comply with security practices to keep operations running smoothly," said Master Sgt. Lofton Morehead, Information Assurance section chief. In order for the 460th Space Wing to have a successful CCRI, it is everyone's responsibility to be knowledgeable on proper traditional and physical security, as well as IA practices. Some tips for all military members to follow to ensure inspection success include: pulling your Common Access Card out of your computer and keeping it on your person, properly safeguarding classified systems, not passing any classified information over unclassified means such as phones, e-mails or social media and know your unit security managers and information assurance officer. "Being aware of potential security risks will ensure the 460th Space Wing experiences a successful inspection." Morehead said.
