Team Buckley women gathered Nov. 7 at the Buckley Chapel to create fleece blankets for donation to the Comitis Crisis Center in Aurora, Colo., next week.

Fleece of all different colors and designs, including flowers, monkeys and a John Deer tractor pattern, covered the room.

The blankets will be used to combat winter chills and will bring warmth into a place that needs it.

"December is Comitis month. We will be focusing on that homeless shelter all month long," said Travelle Wright, wife of Col. Dan Wright, 460th Space Wing commander.

The Women's Empowerment Group, Buckley Spouses and Buckley Woman's Ministry worked together to put on the event.

"We were trying to think of something that would bring everyone together and do something good for the community," said Lindsey Kindt, one of the masterminds behind the event.

The project was not only to help those in need, but also a time to embrace camaraderie and companionship. The purpose of each group is to bring women together and build friendships, while benefiting the community.

"All the women come from different backgrounds and different walks of life," said Staff Sgt. Kristin Porter, 2nd Space Warning Squadron satellite operations specialist, "but everyone here is just working together as a group. There's always some sort of mentorship that you get coming to the group."
