The Military Saves campaign encourages service members and families to save money every month, and Buckley Air Force Base is participating in the effort.

Col. Shawn Thompson, 460th Mission Support Group commander, signed a proclamation for Military Saves Week Feb. 27, to encourage the Buckley community to set goals for personal savings or debt reduction.

Military Saves Week is a national campaign which coincides with America Saves Week, and the purpose is to persuade, motivate and encourage military families to practice saving money every month, and to convince leaders and organizations to be aggressive in promoting automatic savings.

Military installations around the globe will be hosting financial planning events, fairs, seminars, classes and one-on-one counseling during Military Saves Week.

“The goals of Military Saves Week are to increase participation, foster partnerships, and increase financial readiness and stability,” said Patricia Pope, Airmen & Family Readiness chief on Buckley AFB. “It is a time to engage with service members, spouses, dependents, DoD civilians, Guard members, Reservists, retirees and contractors to encourage them to adopt healthy financial management practices through the Military Saves campaign.”
