BUCKLEY AIR FORCE BASE, Colo -- For the second time in three years, the 460th Space Wing at Buckley Air Force Base has been awarded the Omaha Trophy Feb. 27, 2018. The Omaha Trophy is awarded to five wings across the Air Force in recognition of mission excellence. Buckley AFB is being recognized for its excellence in global operations, which includes space and cyberspace operations.
“Each of the nominated units deserve recognition for their outstanding contributions to national and global security,” Gen. John Hyten, U.S. Strategic Command commander said. “My travels across the command highlight to me that we have the most remarkable team in the world. Thank you for the important work you do, and what each of you contribute to this enterprise. I am proud to stand shoulder-to-shoulder and serve with you.”
The USSTRATCOM mission set includes strategic deterrence, nuclear operations, space operations, cyberspace operations, joint electromagnetic spectrum operations, global strike, missile defense, and analysis and targeting.
“This is a strong proclamation that the 460th Space Wing is laser-focused and highly successful in executing our primary mission of being combat-ready Airmen providing warning, surveillance, and installation operations for America and our Allies,” Col. Troy L. Endicott, 460th Space Wing commander said. “Further, this is a total wing award as every facet and unit in our wing are duly recognized.”
