BUCKLEY AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. --
“We Heard You”
By Colonel Trevor Wentlandt, 460th Mission Support Group commander
Traffic at the Mississippi Gate had been backed up for months due to the large number of commercial trucks coming onto the base. On one hand, it was a positive indicator of the base’s modernization and growth. On the other, it was a constant thorn that created serious safety and morale issues for many of our employees using Mississippi every morning. Fortunately, you spoke and “We Heard You.”
“We Heard You” is a new campaign kicked off by the 460th Mission Support Group, effective immediately. I’ve charged my Airmen (civilians, military, and contractors) to help our customers get to “Yes.” If your issue is something my Airmen can handle at their level, they will. If they need help, they’ll elevate it. The Airmen of the 460 MSG strive to be “world class and operationally relevant,” every day. It’s what we do, it’s who we are.
With combined efforts from across the 460 Space Wing and with support of many of our mission partners, we found a solution. We created a new traffic pattern at the gate, shifted commercial deliveries to other than peak traffic times, and worked with the City of Aurora to improve synchronization of the lights along Mississippi and Tower/Alameda. It was a herculean effort. It started with you.
To be honest, we won’t be able to solve every issue. The Telluride Gate, for instance, isn’t going to re-open. I’ve researched this issue and there are too many safety, security and financial barriers that we can’t overcome. Regardless, if you have an issue you need help with, please reach out to us. We’ll do the research and if we can get to “Yes,” we will.
You can reach out by calling 720-847-6507, email 460msg.cc@us.af.mil, or stop by Building 606 (the 460 MSG headquarters) and leave a note in the 460 MSG Suggestion Box (just inside the main doors).
I want to hear from you. I’d love to know where we are doing things well, but I need to know where we’re doing less than well. Please reach out if you have ideas on how we can better support you.
“We Heard You” on the Mississippi Gate traffic issue, and I hope to hear from you again soon.
