Col. Troy Endicott, 460th Space Wing commander, hosted several Metro-Denver mayors and Rep. Jason Crow, Colorado congressman, for a mission brief and base tour at Buckley Air Force Base, Colorado, April 19, 2019.

“The relationship Buckley has with our surrounding communities is integral to our combined success and fruitful indeed,” said Endicott. “It is an honor and joy for us to host our local leaders.”

The tour included an inside look at Buckley’s unique missile warning mission and several tenant units, to include the Colorado Air National Guard’s 140th Wing and the Colorado Army National Guard’s Army Aviation Support Facility.

“This really is a model for cooperation,” said Crow. “When the local communities and leaders support the base it puts us in a much better position to make the case to the DOD (Department of Defense) for additional resources.”

Building strong relationships with the community our service members live and work in is a top priority of Buckley AFB. Gathering with local community leaders helps strengthen these relationships and showcase our mission.

“The city of Aurora has been the home to Buckley AFB since 1938, and throughout its many changing missions and growing presence, this base has become an integral part of our city,” said Mayor Robert LeGare, mayor of Aurora.

Along with Rep. Jason Crow, mayors from Aurora, Bennet, Bow Mar, Brighton, Castle Pines, Castle Rock, Centennial, Cherry Hills Village, Columbine Valley, Golden, Lakewood, Littleton, Lone Tree, Louisville and Superior all attended the mission brief and tour.
