BUCKLEY AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. -- In an abundance of caution, effective Monday, March 16, the 460th Medical Group at Buckley Air Force Base is implementing additional precautions to pharmacy operations. The pharmacy building will be closed to walk-in customers and will only operate out of the drive-thru for prescription drop off and pick up.
Team Buckley is taking this precaution in efforts to reduce face-to-face interactions to prevent the transmission of COVID-19 on Buckley AFB and other respiratory viruses, protect pharmaceutical recipients and preserve healthcare system functioning.
Customers are asked to plan for extended wait times, along with new traffic patterns at the pharmacy building. The new traffic pattern includes two dedicated lanes at the pharmacy. The first lane will be exclusively for prescription pick up and the second lane will be dedicated for prescription drop off only.
According to the Centers for Disease Control, people who are at higher risk for COVID-19 are older adults and people who have compromised immune systems and/or serious chronic medical conditions.
Buckley AFB remains in Health Protection Condition (HPCON) Alpha in response to the spread of COVID-19 in the state of Colorado. The HPCON Alpha declaration defines base measures for a limited health threat to base personnel that has the potential to rapidly move into an area. Measures include educating personnel on the threats and precautionary measures.
“We apologize in advance for any inconvenience this may cause,” said Col. Devin Pepper, 460th Space Wing commander. “But we ask for your understanding and patience as we execute these new practices.”
