BUCKLEY AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. -- Enterprise Information Technology as a Service (EITaaS) celebrated the grand opening of the EITaaS End User Services (EUS) Tech Café at Buckley Air Force Base on March 8, 2021. This Tech Café is the first of its kind in the U.S. Air Force.
The Tech Café currently offers walk-up IT support from the EITaaS EUS Field Service team, and it will also provide appointment-based support. These services better enhance customer experience by providing a more comfortable environment to interact with in-person with Field Service technicians by appointment or walk-up.
“The Tech Café at Buckley Garrison is a great example of the types of solutions being implemented through EITaaS efforts,” said Brig. Gen. Chad Raduege, Air Combat Command Director of Cyberspace & Information Dominance. “As the Air and Space Forces shift focus to mission assurance functions, improved enterprise IT services will allow Airmen and Guardians to maximize time spent on the mission and minimize delays due to inefficient IT.”
The Field Service technicians at Buckley’s Tech Café can assist with numerous IT-related issues including device support, hardware repair drop-off, application support, computer installation support, and system imaging.
Workstations and televisions at each station allow end-users to connect and display their screens as needed. The option to project information onto TVs, instead of computer screens, allows Field Service technicians and Air Force personnel to adhere to COVID protocols during interactions.
The milestones achieved at Buckley Garrison during the EITaaS Risk Reduction Effort have helped pave the way for future successes across the RRE landscape. The RRE is the Air Force’s multi-year experiment to explore technical, operational, security, and organizational requirements for Enterprise IT.
“EITaaS is the capstone that will drive further progress for Enterprise IT across the Department of the Air Force,” said Col. Brenda Oppel, Director of the EITaaS IPO. “By leveraging commercial solutions for enterprise level capabilities, we can provide resilient IT and data operations that maintain and secure a mission-ready posture for years to come. This milestone within the EITaaS effort correlates with Gen. Brown’s charge of ‘Accelerate Change or Lose’ and sets the foundation for improving operational readiness, lethality, and retention services across the Air and Space Forces.”
The Tech Café is open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. Air Force and Space Force personnel can schedule an appointment at the EITaaS Tech Café, by visiting www.ServiceCenter.af.mil and click on the Tech Café icon.
