Col. Daniel Dant, 460th Space Wing commander had an interview with Jacquie Palisi from Channel 8 here Oct. 14, 2011.

Dant discussed his career so far, his tour at Buckley Air Force Base and his focus when it comes to leadership and community relations.

The first part of the interview focused on the vision of the wing. "We want to be America's premier space wing and provide unrivaled space warning and installation support for national defense," said Dant. "We are the only space wing on this planet that provides from space, strategic missile warning and theater missile warning."

The relationship that the wing has with its partner units here at Buckley was mentioned by Dant. "We have 81 different organizations on this base and many of them provide missions that are vital to national defense." The Colorado National Guard, Aerospace Data Facility - Colorado, and the Navy Operations Support Center to include Marines were of those listed.

Dant talked about the importance of the relationship that Buckley Air Force Base has with the local community. "They're a lifeline for us and we're a lifeline for the community in many respects," said Dant. "We're a part of this community and we want to be really good neighbors. We all take care of each other."

They also discussed how he reaches out to the people in his command. "One of my goals is to get out from behind this desk and this office at least once a day and I'll go pop in on an organization unannounced," said Dant. "I just want to come and shake hands and see how you're doing."

When asked what he would like to say to the people working here at Buckley he stated, "I am really proud of you for serving our country and for doing the great work that you do for this base, for our mission and for the local community."
