October is a special month, and not just because it brings with it distinctive autumn weather, Columbus Day, or the tradition of trick or treating. Every year in October, the employment of those with disabilities is recognized by National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM). This year, the theme is "Profit by Investing in Workers with Disabilities." The Air Reserve Personnel Center at Buckley AFB, Colo. is proud to host this year's luncheon to recognize NDEAM.

There will be a catered barbeque luncheon, Monday, Oct. 24, 2011, at Buckley's Leadership Development Center from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. and the cost is $12. We are honored to have former U.S. Army Captain Tommy Clack as our guest speaker. Not only is he seasoned in the policies of federal employment of those with disabilities, he is also a heroic Vietnam combat veteran that lost three limbs on the Cambodian border in 1969. Clack suffered other injuries as well, and was awarded multiple medals and decorations for his valor and selfless service. He has endured 65 surgeries since his injuries in 1969. Clack has been working veteran issues for more than 41 years, to include working with Congress. Although he is currently living and working in Georgia as a field manager and veteran's service officer, he travels to all 50 states and across the globe spreading his motivational words more than 150 times per year.
