Team Buckley Opens Airman's Attic Published Oct. 12, 2011 By Airman Nigel R. Sims 460th Space Wing Public Affairs BUCKLEY AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. -- Service members of Team Buckley celebrated the grand opening of their very own Airman's Attic Oct. 12. The Airman's Attic is a facility where junior enlisted Airman and their families can go to get free donated goods. All of the items in the Attic are free for Airmen E-5 and below, and this time there is no limit on how many items service members can have per week. The Airman's Attic, much like a department store, has designated areas, and rooms for similar items to be placed together. "Opening an Airman's Attic will help on the cost of living for Airmen, E-5 and below because everything here is free," said Master Sgt. Lance Dreiling, 460th Space Communications Squadron, first sergeant. Many different forms of donations are accepted at the Airman's Attic, such as furniture, clothes, food, uniform items and dishes. "One of the catalysts that made us push for the Airman's Attic was recently we had a house fire victim and there was a big need to get relief to that individual and his family," said Senior Master Sgt. Stephen Santos, 2nd Space Warning Squadron, first sergeant. "Having that situation happen really expedited the process of finding a location to start the Airman's Attic." The first sergeants have been working on this project for about six months," said Santos. The hours of operation currently for the Airman's Attic are Monday, Wednesday and Friday, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. It remains closed for Federal Holidays, 460th Space Wing goal days and Air Force Space Command family days. The Airman's Attic is currently at a temporary location until further notice. The address is 17639 East Keystone North Unit C, Buckley Air Force Base. Directions: Drive into the housing area, take the first left and immediately turn left again. The house will be on the left.
