Buckley celebrates Joint Junior Enlisted Appreciation Day Published Aug. 24, 2011 By Airman Nigel R. Sims 460th Space Wing Public Affairs BUCKLEY AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. -- Service members from every unit poured in to celebrate Team Buckley's Joint Junior Enlisted Appreciation Day Aug. 19, 2011. The Joint Junior Enlisted Appreciation Day, was a day set aside for all junior enlisted personnel to come together to bond with one another, while being honored for their outstanding service, and unyielding support in securing our great nation. There were many different activities available for Team Buckley members to participate in such as softball, volleyball, and basketball. This also included free food and cash prizes that were given away to service members as well. "I really enjoyed it, it was a good time," said Senior Airman Isaac Turner, 460th Space Communication Squadron crewmember. The event displayed a blend of service members from every branch of the military. "I think a lot of people came out, especially our junior joint enlisted members," said Turner. "There was a great deal of unity in many ways at this event," said Senior Airman Brandon Knapp, 460th Space Wing Command Chief Executive Assistant. "From the individuals that put the event together and all the teams that participated in the competition portion such as ultimate Frisbee and Chiefs verses junior enlisted softball. "I feel Team Buckley did a great job in boosting morale of our junior service members as well as establishing comradery," said Turner. "As long as we continue to keep events like this fun and light-hearted, Airmen will continue coming out and showing support." "Anytime that you can get service members out of their job for a couple of hours to have great food, fun, and some good competition, it is going to keep moral on base high," said Knapp. Team Buckley plans on keeping the tradition of honoring all of our service members for their dedication and loyalty to our country.
