Bowling event kicks off Sexual Awarness month

BUCKLEY AIR FORCE BASE Colo- --  Members of Team Buckley, along with the Sexual Assault Awareness Center, held a free bowling event for all service members to kick off Sexual Assault Awareness Month April 1.
"This is our premiere event for sexual assault awareness month," said Ms. Peggy Moore-McCoy, Buckley's Sexual Assault Coordinator. "We hit around between 80 to 100 people coming out to either support or participate in the bowling. I feel the turnout was wonderful."
It is a good thing that this program was a success. "Coming out to this event helps make Airman aware of the services that are available to them. It also puts a face to the program and it helps Airman to see that leadership takes these type of crimes very serious as well," said Ms. Moore-McCoy.
"We have some upcoming events that we have set aside specifically for Airman on the base called Sex Signals," said Ms. Moore-McCoy. "It is a dramatic presentation that looks at the communication between men and women, and how we can mess it up."
"This program is designed to address some perceptions about sex, dating, and also the opposite sex as well, that may get us into trouble," said Ms. Moore-McCoy.
This is an opportunity for people analyze their relationships and how they communicate with the opposite sex. This program is scheduled to be held April 20, at the Leadership Development Center at 9:30 a.m., and then an afternoon presentation at 1:30 p.m. All members of Team Buckley are invited to attend.
"This event will be an opportunity to explore cultural and social understanding between men and women," said Ms. Moore-McCoy.
