Last month the 460th Civil Engineer Squadron's Environmental Flight was notified by Metro Wastewater Reclamation District (Metro District) that Buckley Air Force Base would receive a Metro Gold Award for 2010.

Metro District presented the award on April 6 at their headquarters facility in Denver. Maj. Adam Roberts, 460th CES commander accepted the award.

Buckley AFB holds a Wastewater Contribution Permit for sanitary sewer discharges from the base to the Metro District treatment facility. The Metro District formally recognizes those dischargers who have met all their pretreatment requirements and demonstrated a commitment to environmental excellence, by the annual presentation of Metro District Gold Awards. The Gold Award is a plaque signifying 100 percent compliance with pretreatment requirements and a demonstrated commitment to environmental excellence. The plaque is presented to the winners each year by the Metro District's Chairman of the Board.

This is the third Gold award to Buckley. Metro Wastewater presented prior awards in 2000 and 2006.
