LaVoie 460th Space Wing Public Affairs BUCKLEY AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. -- Two Buckley Airmen were recently found guilty of use and possession of marijuana, as well as other charges, resulting in forfeiture of pay and confinement. Airman 1st Class William Ragan and Airman Basic Cody Hall, 460th Security Forces Squadron were caught smoking marijuana in the base dormitories when Airman Hall's roommate reported the smell of marijuana. When two security forces members arrived at the dormitories, they confirmed the smell of marijuana smoke. When the security forces members knocked on the door, they heard noise that sounded like the Airmen were attempting to leave through the window. Though Airmen Hall and Ragan did not exit the window, they did exit to the parking lot, and failed to stop when a security forces member yelled for them. They got in Airman Regan's car and left the base. A "be on the lookout" notice was placed at all the base gates. At the same time, several security forces members searched Airman Hall's room pursuant to an authorization from a military magistrate. They found several improvised smoking devices, and with the assistance of a military working dog, discovered a multi-colored glass pipe containing ash and marijuana residue hidden in Airman Hall's closet. At about 8:45 p.m. that day, Airmen Hall and Ragan were detained trying to enter the Sixth Avenue Gate. When they were told they were going to be handcuffed and searched, Airman Hall said, "I might as well give you this." He handed the security forces member items from his pocket, including a bag containing 2.4 grams of marijuana. During the search of Airman Ragan's car, security forces members found an M68 optical rifle sight, which belonged to the U.S. Air Force, a bag of marijuana and a packet of "Cherry Bomb" branded spice in the passenger compartment. Airman Hall was found guilty of using and possessing marijuana, as well as introducing it onto the base. Airman Ragan was found guilty of using and possessing marijuana, as well as introducing it on to the base. Airman Ragan was also convicted of possessing and using spice, as well as wrongful appropriation of an optical rifle site, valued at about $600. Because of these events, Airman Basic Hall forfeited $964 in pay, was restricted to Buckley for two months and had to complete 15 days hard labor. Airman 1st Class Ragan was reduced to E-1, forfeited $750 in pay per month for two months, and received 75 days of confinement.
