William Shelton, Air Force Space Commander, visited Buckley Air Force Base, Jan. 18. While attending Buckley Air Force Base Gen. Shelton ate lunch with Airmen from around the base. During the visit, the general conducted a commander's call, addressing three major functions that are critical in this Command as, as well as praising the 460th Medical Group Squadron for their recent success on their Health Service Inspection. "The first priority is to support the joint fight every day," said General Shelton. "There is no question that Team Buckley here is all about the joint fight." Another major priority that was very important to General Shelton is budget costs. "My second priority," said General Shelton. "We have got to get control of the cost of space programs." He also spoke about normalizing and operationalizing cyberspace business. "The third top priority is to "normalize and operationalize cyberspace business," said General Shelton. "The space business went through the very same process when it first emerged and now it is time for the cyber business to do the same. The rest of the Air Force needs to recognize that when we put out a Cyber Tasking Order, it is just like an Air Tasking Order or Space Tasking Order. It has the same kind of authorities and the same kind of expectations in terms of responses by the operational commands." General Shelton will continue speaking to Air Force Space Command Airman with a visit to other AFSPC units within the next several weeks.
