Throughout the past eight years the Buckley Chapel has been the host of the chili cook-off. Over time it has become one of the biggest and well- known events on Buckley to celebrate and participate in.

As people began to fill the tables, Chaplain (Capt.) Gary Coburn, Senior Protestant Chaplain, and staff welcomed them with open arms.

The chili wars were open to absolutely anyone who desired to enter and that could have their chili in place at the Chapel by 11:30 a.m. for the judging. At stake were bragging rights to the very best chili on Buckley.

"It was a nice opportunity on a cold winter day to come together and enjoy something warm," said Mrs. Janet Watkins, Chili Connoisseur.

In the Best Red Chili category, Mrs. Cindy Zulli was awarded winner, Best Green Chili was awarded to David Zulli, The Hottest Chili was awarded to Mrs. Debbie Cruz; Most Unique Chili went to Master Sgt. Deanna Snider.  The coveted Overall Best Chili award was taken home by Mr. Duane Judy.

The winning chili cooks took home gift certificates and acclaim. About 85 others present that day received a warm delicious lunch, exposure to many of their wingmen on Team Buckley, and the knowledge that their chapel is a warm friendly place.
