Space Wing ends year successfully Published Oct. 20, 2010 By John Spann 460th Space Wing Public Affairs Officer BUCKLEY AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. -- The 460th Space Wing ended the fiscal year successfully on Sept. 30. According to the 460th Comptroller Squadron, the wing executed nearly $8.8 million dollars in closeout monies during the last few months of the fiscal year. Of that, Air Force Space Command provided almost $5.9 million earlier in the year, and the wing provided $2.9 million to wrap up the year. Mission-critical or essential items that were funded include minor construction projects, closed circuit systems, safety and environmental projects, wing-wide computer refresh and other miscellaneous items to improve wing infrastructure and work environment. In addition, over $230,000 was spent on quality of life items to support our military families. Outdoor recreation and outdoor adventure items such as camping gear, snowboard boots, ski boots, cross country ski gear, bicycles, and fitness equipment were purchased. "We had a very successful year," stated Judy Corizzo, Financial Management Administrator for the Comptroller Squadron. "Although we didn't get any last minute money from the command at the end of the year, they funded our top five unfunded requirements early on. We were very close to FY09 executions and we were able to buy down some sustainment bills early for next year."
