Colonel Mahon assumes command of 460th Mission Support Group Published Aug. 23, 2010 By Senior Airman Stephen Musal 460th Space Wing Public Affairs BUCKLEY AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. -- Col. Deirdre Mahon took command of the 460th Mission Support Group during an assumption-of-command ceremony Aug. 16. Col. Clint Crosier, 460th Space Wing commander, passed the unit flag to Colonel Mahon in front of the 460th MSG's components, the 460th Civil Engineer, Contracting, Force Support, Logistics Readiness and Security Forces Squadrons and guests. Colonel Mahon comes to Buckley Air Force Base from the Defense Logistics Agency headquarters at Fort Belvoir, Va., where she served as the chief of the distribution operations division. Colonel Mahon received her commission in 1987 upon completion of Officer Training School in San Antonio, Texas. She began her Air Force career as an information management officer and cross-trained into the logistics plans career field in 1996. An assumption-of-command ceremony differs from a change-of-command ceremony in that the previous commander has already relinquished command.
