I send my heartfelt greetings to all those celebrating the 235th birthday of the United States Army.

Proud chapters in the story of the United States ARmy stretch across three centuries. Since the first Continental Army marched with General George Washington to establish a new nation, brave individuals have enlisted to defend our freedom with unwavering patriotism. In times of struggle and crisis, Americans have relied on the service of our sons and daughters, secure in knowing our lives and liberties are in their protection.

Army servicemembers exemplify the highest ideals of our Nation and the unparalleled excellence of the United States Armed Forces. This exceptional spirit of sacrifice and determination also characterizes our military families. They are pillars of strength for their loved ones, eagerly awaiting the return of those deployed, and steadfastly supporting our troops with their devotion and encouragement.

As members of the greatest military force in history, you understand the blessings we cherish as Americans are not to be taken for granted. Your resolve in defense of our Nation and loyalty to your fellow Soldiers represent the best of America.

On behalf of a grateful Nation, I thank you for your service. May God bless and protect you and your families, and may God bless the United States of America.
