Joe Lujan, 11th Space Warning Squadron intelligence situation analyst, is Team Buckley's Warrior of the Week for March 12. Sergeant Lujan is from Northglenn, Colo., and has served in the Air Force for six years. He enjoys boating, running and golf. Why was Sergeant Lujan nominated for Warrior of the Week? "Sergeant Lujan is re-defining the role of intelligence situation analyst by providing top-notch analysis, and creating unprecedented intelligence resources for the on-duty crews to use. The procedures and products he has developed, in addition to the on-going support to operational crews, were singled out by the AFSPC Inspector General as strengths during the recent Operational Readiness Inspection. Additionally, he stood up a robust anti-terrorism/force protection program for the squadron, which helps the squadron be better prepared for contingency situations," said Lt. Col. Shawn Fairhurst, 11th SWS commander. What do you enjoy most about your job? I enjoy providing the Highly-Elliptical Orbit satellite crews with critical intelligence information necessary to conduct a vital national security mission. What accomplishment are you most proud of? During my last deployment, I had the opportunity to build a new team that had as significant effect on the counter-IED mission in Iraq and Afghanistan. Knowing that I had a part in saving the lives of fellow service members is something that I am very proud of. Why is serving your country important to you? Serving my country is most important to me because not everybody gets a chance to. I appreciate the opportunity to take part in securing the freedom of my family, friends and fellow Americans. What are your personal and career goals? My primary goal right now is to be a good father to our newborn son and a good husband to my wife. I am also working on my degree in counter-terrorism and hope to become an officer in 2012. Is there any advice you'd like to give fellow Airmen? Take every chance that the Air Force offers you to learn a new skill. Every new skill will open several new doors that you never knew existed. You will definitely see the rewards in the end.
