Youth Programs, Community Center tell Team Buckley “You Got Talent!” Published April 7, 2010 By Thomas Cox 460th Force Support Squadron BUCKLEY AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. -- Buckley Air Force Base Youth Programs and the Buckley Community Center co-hosted the inaugural "You Got Talent" competition March 29 and 30. The competition gives a new look to the annual Family and Teen Talent Contest, which is part of the Nell Buckley Performing Arts Series. The revisions include eight categories: children ages 6-8 solo or group act, preteens ages 9-12 solo/individual act and group act, teens ages 13-18 solo vocal, instrumental, performance and group act, and family - including parent and youth or husband and wife. Seven brave contestants performed a variety of acts during the two-day event. Seven-year-old Eliana Morales sang "Eye of the Tiger," Eight-year-old Amariah Morales danced to the song "Hot and Cold," 11-year-old David Zulli performed "Caramba" on the piano, 13-year-old Christopher Thibodeau performed "The Drunken Sailor" on the piano, 16-year-old Ana Thibodeau performed "Sonatina 1" on the piano and 12-year-old Bethany Trantham and 13-year-old Sarah Clouse sang "My Country 'Tis of Thee." All six acts have been recorded for Air Force-level judging. The Air Force winners will be announced May 30. First-place winners will be invited to perform with Tops in Blue when the team visits the winners' installation. The competition supports the Year of the Air Force Family and is a popular program that provides an opportunity for families to showcase their creative abilities through the performing arts.
