Team Buckley members can ring in 2010 by showing off a green thumb. The 460th Civil Engineer Squadron will facilitate the first natural Christmas Tree Recycling effort on Buckley Air Force Base through Jan. 15.

The benefits of natural Christmas Tree Recycling include:
- Diversion of this valuable biodegradable resource from solid waste streams and local landfills
- Provides mulch material for use on non-landscape trees and shrubbery at little cost to the government, which combats invasive plant species around shelterbelt trees and helps conserve moisture and provides soil nutrients

The tree-collection points are near the large recycling bins just off Winterpark Avenue and in the paved parking area near the maintenance building in Buckley Family Housing.

It is important for the safety of the crew and machinery that all ornaments, lights, tinsel, nails, wire, garlands and stands are removed before drop off.
