Combined Federal Campaign lands at Buckley Published Nov. 5, 2009 By Senior Airman Stephen Musal 460th Space Wing Public Affairs BUCKLEY AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. -- Now that the Combined Federal Campaign is in full swing at Buckley Air Force Base, Team Buckley is moving toward the goal of 100 percent contact. CFC is the federal government's way to combine local, national and international charities into one easy-to-manage program. "More than 4,000 charities are listed in the CFC beneficiary catalog, making it the largest workplace giving campaign in the world," said 2nd Lt. Aries Hopf, installation project officer. "The strength of our department has always been our people." Donating to a CFC charity is a choice made by each federal employee; likewise, which charity and how much to donate if federal employees choose to do so are also personal choices. For those federal employees who choose to donate, there are two ways to do so. First, a one-time donation by cash or check is an option. Secondly, a payroll deduction of a set amount each month (or each pay period for civilians) is another option. If payroll deduction is elected, a minimum donation of $2 per month for military or $1 per pay period for civilians is required. There is no minimum donation for cash or check donations. Contractors are eligible to donate if they so choose; however, only donations by cash or check can be accepted from contractors. No matter how employees choose to donate, they will have to fill out a pledge card, available from unit CFC representatives. According to the Denver Metropolitan Area CFC Web page, the Denver CFC region "includes approximately 32,000 federal employees and military personnel. It serves 17 counties: Adams, Arapahoe, Boulder, Chaffee, Clear Creek, Denver, Douglas, Eagle, Gilpin, Grand, Jefferson, Lake, Morgan, Park, Pitkin, Summit, and Washington Counties."
