James Crow 2nd Space Warning Squadron BUCKLEY AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. -- Team Buckley members lent a helping hand to a young organization with a remarkable goal, The Miracle Party Foundation, Sept. 11 and 12 at the Crowne Plaza Convention Center at Denver International Airport. The foundation was established in 2008 by former Air Force member Stacy Moriarty. The purpose of the organization is to help children diagnosed with cancer and their families to forget their battles and enjoy a night of fun and games. The Miracle Party is also an evening to remember those lost and honor the brave children who are afflicted by this terrible disease. The theme for Miracle Party 2009 was superheroes, and heroes were plentiful on this night. Event organizers and volunteers came dressed in superhero costumes and brought plenty of smiles to the children and their families. There were limo and pony rides, an obstacle course and video game stations to name a few of the many activities available. Children were running around to get their faces painted, temporary tattoos and trying an assortment of fun hats before choosing one to take home, bringing joy and laughter. Team Buckley members did a variety of things to help organizers plan a magical evening. On Sept. 11, dozens of volunteers set up various booths and assisted with setting up stage and lighting for the performers. The day of the event, volunteers were busy making last minute preparations and manning the various stations. Crowd control was also a priority to ensure the children had a safe and fantastic time. The Miracle Party Foundation, though at just two years old, has already helped hundreds of families celebrate and honor those who have battled cancer in their early lives. Team Buckley members are proud to have been a part of making this event a huge success. Many members were moved by the experience and are looking forward to the next "Miracle Party."
