  • Published
Senior Airman Nathan Smith, 460th Comptroller Squadron customer service technician, is Team Buckley's Warrior of the Week for Aug. 15-21.

Airman Smith has served in the Air Force for three years and hails from Middlebourne, W.Va. His hobbies include his family, health, fitness and chess.

What is the combat capability that this person exemplified to earn the title, "Warrior of the Week?"

"Senior Airman Smith is always at the ready to go above and beyond to help a fellow Airman. He is the role model for 'never leaving an Airman behind'," said Master Sgt. Tommy Marin, 460th CPTS additional-duty first sergeant.

How do your day-to-day duties impact the Air Force mission?

I ensure timely processing of travel and military pay transactions so members can focus more on the mission and less on personal finance issues. I audit transactions of others to ensure compliance and quick processing is done by my fellow finance members helping the customer.

Why do you serve?

I enjoy the atmosphere that the Air Force provides and the job security assuming you strive to succeed. The structured environment and esprit de corps are also incentives that separate an Air Force career from the corporate world.

What has been your most memorable experience in the Air Force?

My temporary duty assignment to the Air Force Financial Services Center at Ellsworth Air Force Base, S.D.

What is your most memorable personal accomplishment?

My most memorable accomplishment is to be present and witness the birth of my son.

Where would you like to be in 10 years? What would you be doing?

I plan to be practicing as a physician's assistant for the Air Force. I have been accepted to the Interservice Physician Assistant Program and hope to graduate and work in the clinical family practice arena.
