The fifth-annual Fit Fight Freedom mini triathlon is scheduled for Aug. 23, 8 a.m. beginning at the Aurora Beck Center Pool. The triathlon is open to all valid military identification card holders 15 years old and older.

"This race embodies the meaning of Fit to Fight," said 2nd Lt. Jessica Gruver, Buckley Fitness Center officer in charge.

The mini triathlon consists of a 300-yard swim, 12-mile bike ride and three-mile run. Triathletes will compete alone or in teams in the following age groups: 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-50 and 51 and up. The top three finishers in each age group as well as the top three teams will each win awards.

According to Lieutenant Gruver, timing chips will be worn to ensure fair calculation of run and bike times.

To register for the mini triathlon, submit a 2009 Mini Triathlon registration form in person to the Buckley Fitness Center or by fax at 720-847-3481 by no later than 5 p.m. Aug. 18. Triathlon registration forms are available at the Buckley Fitness Center or online at www.460fss.com.
