An estimated 2,000 people enjoyed Military Family Appreciation day at the softball fields here, June 6.

"This year was unique because there were a lot more young families and children than years before," said Dr. Anant Jain 460th Space Wing Family Advocacy. "I was hearing all day about how much people were enjoying the event."

The day was sponsored by Buckley's Integrated Delivery Services, which include the offices of Family Advocacy, the Chapel, Behavioral Health, Family Service Family Readiness, Demand Drug Reduction, Services, the Sexual Assault Response Coordinator and the 460th Space Communications Squadron.

With help from the United Service Organizations, United States Automobile Association and Operation Kids, there were free drinks, food, clothes, games and toys for everyone.

"From the burgers and hot dogs to the sample food to take home and the free clothes, it was like a bazaar that turned out perfect," said Tech. Sgt. Greg Gifford, Military Family Appreciation Day event coordinator from the 460th SCS. "It served the purpose of giving back to the families of this base. There were many obstacles but we were very pleased with the way it turned out. It was fantastic."
