Tech. Sgt. Imari Motley, Detachment 3, Aerospace Data Facility- Colorado Published May 29, 2009 BUCKLEY AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. -- Tech. Sgt. Imari Motley, non-commissioned officer in charge of physical security with Detachment 3 Aerospace Data Facility- Colorado, is Team Buckley's Warrior of the Week for May 29-June 4. Sergeant Motley has served in the Air Force for 11 years and hails from San Antonio, Texas. In his free time he likes to ride motorcycles and play basketball. What is the combat capability that this person exemplified to earn the title, "Warrior of the Week?" "Tech. Sgt. Motley lives up to the title of "warrior" through his selfless attitude and integrity," said Lt. Col. Urban Gillespie, ADF-C. "He was recently hand-selected to spear-head a security detail including orchestrating the movement of hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of construction equipment and leading a team of personnel escorts during a major facility upgrade. Despite several logistics and weather-related challenges, he personally ensured the project was completed on-time and adhered to our strict anti-terrorism and force protection standards. While only assigned to the ADF-C a short time, Sergeant Motley has impressed his fellow Airmen with his professionalism and dedication to getting the job done right." How do your day-to-day duties impact the Air Force mission? I'm trusted to secure more than a billion dollars in Air Force assets that directly ensure the mission success of our nation's warfighters and global security. If you could change one thing about the Air Force what would it be? I would like to see the Department of Defense eliminate or extend the high-year-tenure. This will allow service members to serve for longer periods of time as long as they can continue to fulfill mission requirements. Why do you serve? I serve because I love my country and it gives me a very strong sense of pride. At the end of my duty day I know that in some small way I have contributed to the security of our nation and that is a great feeling. What has been your most memorable experience in the Air Force? My last deployment to Iraq was my most memorable experience by far because I was fortunate enough to be the squad leader of 12 outstanding Airmen, who all served proudly and returned home safely. What is your most memorable personal accomplishment? I would have to say my family because without their support I wouldn't be where I am today. I know that no matter how hard times get I can rely on them. If you were not in the military, where would you be? Why? I would more than likely still be back in San Antonio. I would still be there because that's where my family is located and it's a great city to live with many opportunities. Where would you like to be in 10 years? What will you be doing? I would like to be a security forces manager. I feel I have been fortunate enough to experience many different aspects of my career field and I would love the opportunity to share it with future security forces members.
