Elves deliver more than 9,200 cookies to Buckley Published Dec. 16, 2008 By Ms. Debbie Cruz Buckley Chapel BUCKLEY AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. -- A group of volunteer "elves" donned their Santa hats and protective gloves to pack more than 9,200 cookies on Dec. 10, then distributed them to dorm residents, work centers and many of the geographically-separated units Buckley supports Dec. on 11. The Buckley Cookie Caper began in 1995 when Senior Airman Christin Brown, also known as "Elf Number One," was newly assigned to the 2nd Space Warning Squadron. She approached her commander with a request to allow her to bake and distribute cookies on Christmas Eve. This year, the Cookie Caper celebrates 14 years of existence and has grown tremendously. The Chapel thanks all the volunteers who baked and donated cookies to make the Cookie Caper possible. In addition to the volunteer elves from Team Buckley, the Chapel also received help from the members of St. Michael's the Archangel Catholic parish in southeastern Aurora.
