Leaders from UCHealth Anschutz Campus visited Buckley Space Force Base to strengthen their collaborative efforts with the 460th Medical Group on July 31, 2024.

Their engagement included immersive tours and briefings, offering a comprehensive understanding of the ongoing partnership between UCHealth and the 460th MDG to enhance healthcare support for the military community.

"Coalitions with our community partners are vital in providing safe, quality patient care," said Lt. Col. Allison Terese, 460th MDG chief nurse. "Our partners fill gaps when specialty care or urgent care is required for our Airmen and Guardians."

The visit began with an initial briefing in the Space Base Delta 2 Command Conference room, followed by tours of key MDG buildings. These briefings provided invaluable insights into the diverse roles and responsibilities undertaken by Buckley personnel.

The relationship with UC Health dates back to 2005, evolving significantly over the years. The 460th MDG relies on a robust referral network to meet healthcare needs. "UCHealth is a vital part of our extensive referral network," added Terese.

In addition to UCHealth, the 460th MDG collaborates with over 200 hospitals and specialty clinics, ensuring comprehensive patient care and essential training for maintaining a ready medical force.

"Collaborating with Denver metro hospitals is crucial for the 460th Medical Group, as it enhances our ability to provide comprehensive healthcare to our service members and their families." said Col. Liana Vogel, 460th MDG commander. “We are grateful for our relationship with and ongoing support from UCHealth. Their commitment to collaborating ensures both a medically ready and capable force, as well as a ready medical force, prepared to meet any challenge.”

As the day's activities came to a close, the exchange between Buckley personnel and UCHealth leaders exemplified a shared commitment to service and collaboration.

The visit builds upon the enduring partnership between Buckley SFB and UCHealth, highlighting the mutual respect and support that define their relationship.
