Todd Chamberlain, Aurora Police Department Chief paid a visit to Buckley Space Force Base on February 28, 2025. The visit focused on connecting with leadership teams while also receiving an installation tour from the 460th Security Forces Squadron.

During the visit, Chamberlain engaged in interactive discussions, sharing a common goal of safety and security while building camaraderie and gaining a deeper understanding of Buckley SFB’s roles and responsibilities.

“Integrating into the local community is an integral part of ensuring mission success,” said Maj. Ian Latham, 460th SFS commander. “We partner with APD on exchange tactics, techniques, and procedures on [HSJCUSS21] a variety of scenarios. Outside of training, we share concurrent jurisdiction for matters of emergency response. Should an incident occur outside the installation affecting Buckley SFB, APD is our primary point of contact for assistance.”

By working together, the APD and Buckley SFB can optimize emergency response times, ensure critical information flows freely between departments, and even train or conduct exercises side-by-side to better handle any situation that may arise.

“As a public safety practitioner for over three decades,” said Chamberlain, “I understand positive working relationships with our local, state and federal partners are vitally important to our collective mission of serving and protecting our communities. The APD is committed to the safety and wellbeing of all our residents. That commitment extends to the men and women of Buckley SFB, who are selflessly and tirelessly devoted to safeguarding our great nation.”

Collaboration is key to a safer, more secure future. By encouraging open communication, mutual understanding, and a shared sense of purpose, these partnerships benefit everyone on the installation and in the Aurora community.
