On December 4th, 2025, Space Base Delta 2 personnel gathered for a commander’s call led by Col. Eamon Murray, SBD 2 commander. The event delivered critical updates, celebrated achievements, and outlined the commander’s vision for 2026.

Murray’s vision centers on four lines of effort: Combat Readiness and Resilience, Warrior Ethos & Development, Installation Excellence, and Community Engagement. These focus areas will prepare the delta for future challenges, support the growth of our service members, improve the installation and deepen ties with our local community.

Briefings covered topics essential to mission readiness and well-being:

  • Counterintelligence & OPSEC: Special Agent Bryan Malenfant, U.S. Air Force Office of Special Investigations, and Mr. Paul Ortiz, SBD 2 Public Affairs, chief of community engagement, highlighted the importance of safeguarding sensitive information and maintaining vigilance against potential threats.
  • Mental Health & Stress Management: Senior Airman Giuliana Hennigan, 460th Medical Group, provided resources and strategies for managing stress and maintaining mental well-being, which are particularly important during the demanding holiday season.
  • Public Health Emergency Exercise: Capt. Chelsea Gaymon and Staff Sgt. Charles Colello, 460th MDG, recapped a recent public health emergency exercise, emphasizing the importance of preparedness and response protocols.
  • Religious & Spiritual Care: Capt. Rebecca Pettit, SBD 2 chaplain, discussed available religious and spiritual resources and offered guidance and support during the holiday season.
  • Winter Weather & Holiday Safety: Staff Sgt. Javon Coonce, SBD 2 Safety Office, provided essential information on winter weather preparedness and safety tips for a safe and enjoyable holiday season.

In closing, Murray emphasized the importance of understanding individual roles within the larger mission and highlighted Team Buckley’s proactive planning to ensure readiness and strengthen contributions to the joint force in a dynamic security environment.  He urged service members to master not only their own roles but also understand the responsibilities of those above them, while remaining curious about their place in the broader mission.

Murray also encouraged self-care and mutual support during the holiday season, expressing confidence in the team’s ability to build upon past successes. He emphasized that Team Buckley must remain mentally fit and have the tools to face challenges with resilience.

The commander’s call provided a platform to recognize achievements, share critical information, and outline SBD2’s strategic vision. By fostering preparedness, collaboration, and well-being, the delta is positioned to continue its vital role in deterring aggression and safeguarding national security in the year ahead.
