BUCKLEY SPACE FORCE BASE, Colo. -- Five service members from across Buckley Space Force Base won first place at the annual Denver Broncos Salute to Service Boot Camp at Bronco’s Park, Englewood, Colo., Aug. 26, 2026, demonstrating that physical readiness is not just a requirement, but the bedrock of Team Buckley's combat capability.
The event, hosted in partnership with the Denver Broncos, tested military teams from across the region in professional-level athletic drills. The competitive field included 10 teams, all testing their speed, strength, and agility in a grueling NFL-style circuit. The challenges included a 40-yard dash, a three-cone shuttle, a broad jump, a receiving gauntlet, and a quarterback arm challenge.
Representing Buckley SFB, the five-person team was composed of team captain Tech. Sgt. Jacob Eason, Space Base Delta 2 Judge Advocate’s Office; 1st Lt. Cody Blacke and 2nd Lt. William Yun, 2nd Space Warning Squadron; Sgt. Jordan Davila, 264th Cyber Operations Squadron; and Tech. Sgt. Tori Dyer, 207th Space Operations Squadron. By integrating personnel across space, cyber, and support specialties, Team Buckley demonstrated that combat readiness is an installation-wide standard, not a unit-isolated capability.
"Team Buckley showed out today," said 2nd Lt. William Yun, 2nd Space Warning Squadron. "Beyond speed, agility, and skill, we displayed our dedication to the four Cs of the Space Force: Character, Connection, Commitment, and Courage!"
While the combined drills measured raw physical output, the back-to-back victory underscored the Air and Space Force emphasis on human performance. To operate and prevail in highly contested environments, Airmen and Guardians must maintain peak physical and mental readiness.
“I didn’t go into the day expecting an easy win; I only expected to put our daily training up against the region's best and let the preparation sort us out,” said 1st Lt. Cody Blacke, 2nd Space Warning Squadron. “Today showed that we can be great when we experience the greatness of others.”
For Buckley, events like the Broncos Boot Camp offer a valuable opportunity to step outside the gates and connect with the community on a personal level. Close collaboration with our community partners is foundational to strengthening our community and fostering a greater understanding of the vital defense mission being executed daily at Buckley SFB.
“We had an absolute blast out there,” said Tech. Sgt. Tori Dyer, 207th Space Operations Squadron. “Getting to represent Buckley and interact on the field was incredible, and bringing home a win just made the day that much better.”
From tracking missile launches to securing cyber networks and providing vital base support services, the diverse organizations at Buckley SFB continue to prove that a unified force is a ready force.
