Base members give feedback at biennial forum

BUCKLEY AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. -- The biennial Caring for People Forum took place at the Base Chapel March 25, 2016. The forum is designed to allow service members and their families a chance to voice their concerns and needs in order to improve their lives while stationed at the installation.

"I really appreciate forums such as Caring for People," said Tech. Sgt. Michael Boyd, 460th Space Wing commander's action group NCO in charge. "They provide a chance for us as Airmen to interact face-to-face with base leadership, who can help address our concerns. It also allows for continued improvement of base programs and services, which provides a better quality of life for Team Buckley."

The forum was comprised of ten workshops where participants discussed topics including support for the commander, schools, single Airmen, deployments, health and wellness, tenant units, family/spouses and special needs.

Some of the main points of concern addressed at this year's forum included the lack of a dining facility on the installation as well as traffic congestion at the entrance gates of the base during times of heavy traffic.

"Overall we had great feedback," said Christina Grooms, 460th Space Wing community support coordinator. "One of the most beneficial aspects of the day was not only learning about current issues impacting the community, but was Col. John Wagner's sharing community initiatives that have been addressed in the past two years. Many of the initiatives were concerns from previous Caring for People forums."

The issues brought up at the forum will now be discussed at the integrated delivery system. There, they will talk about the viability of resolving what was brought up at the forum and then send their decision to the community action information board were a final decision will be made on what improvements can be accomplished.

The biennial forum isn't the only way base members can voice feedback. The commander action line, 460sw.pa.wf@us.af.mil, is another avenue that can be used as well as contacting the wing's community support coordinator at 720-847-6881.
