Upcoming road, parking lot construction Published June 11, 2015 By Airman 1st Class Emily E. Amyotte 460th Space Wing Public Affairs BUCKLEY AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. -- In the upcoming weeks, Buckley will be undergoing multiple road closures and parking lot refurbishment that is scheduled to last until mid-October causing road closures and traffic reorganization. "This is the time of year where we do a lot of pavement revitalization," said Jeanette Russo , 460th Civil Engineer Squadron transportation networks and pavements manager. "That means we'll be doing a lot of roadway striping, roadway sealing, striping parking lots, and on some old deteriorated streets we will be performing reconstruction." The 460th CES makes sure to coordinate with the on base security forces and fire department so that there are no problems with response times. With the construction, there are also added safety risks, Russo said. "The biggest thing I think is give workers a break in the cone zones and be vigilant when you're driving a car around construction," Russo said. "Also recognize speed and pedestrians. There's a lot of pedestrians that have to use alternate routes." Estimated completion dates for roads and parking lots are as follows: June 1-Aug. 30: A portion of A-Basin St. will be closed from Aspen St. to Beaver Creek St. June 1-Aug. 30: MDG parking lot will be closed to construct additional parking June 15-July 15: Eldora St. will be closed for pavement repair June 15-July 20: Copper Mountain parking lot will be closed for pavement repair July 13-31: 2nd Space Warning Squadron road repair and demolition July 15-Aug. 15: Telluride St. will be closed for pavement repair July 15-Aug. 15: A-Basin CDC parking lot will be closed during Telluride St. construction July 21-Aug. 25: Camp Hale Way closed for pothole repair To be decided: Softball field parking lot will be closed for sealing and re-striping With all the repairs around base, it makes it possible to bring the medical and dental clinics onto base, bring Block 10 to Buckley AFB and complete the restricted area construction. The construction is a small piece to the big picture of Building a Better Buckley Today (B3T) and improving the quality of life for all Team Buckley members, Russo said.
