Buckley hosted a community resource expo featuring more than 35 various organizations that provided information on programs and resources available to the public Sept. 24 at the Leadership Development Center.

The expo provided an opportunity for military members and families to browse local military-partner organizations and sign up for activities and resources.

"There was information available for everyone. Whether you are interested in volunteering with the USO, wanting to know about upcoming trips provided by Outdoor Rec, or if you are new to the area and want to learn about what services are available on Buckley," said Christina Grooms, 460th Space Wing community support coordinator. "This annual event truly brings the resources to the people so they don't have to go out and find which organizations do what. It's hard to know what to look for if you don't know what is available."

This was the second year Buckley has hosted the expo, which Grooms said was attended by 275 people who received handouts of information on outdoors programs, volunteering in the community, grant assistance, local school resources, Red Cross workshops and legal services, to name a few.

"It's great that everyone came to the event walked away saying 'I had no idea that they offered that program or service,'" Grooms said. "Everyone got something out of attending. Whether they will use the info now or in the future, at least they are aware of the resources available to them."
