Good order and discipline is absolutely essential for the 460th Space Wing and Team Buckley partners to accomplish our mission of national defense and security. Below is information on cases processed by 460 SW/JA in the April - June 2014 timeframe. Those cases included nonjudicial punishment and administrative separation.

A military member is subject to nonjudicial punishment under Article 15, Uniform Code of Military Justice for a violation of the UCMJ. Maximum punishment may include reduction in rank and forfeiture of pay.

- An E-6 attempted to disobey an order not to travel outside the United States and lied about it. Punishment consisted of suspended reduction to E-5, forfeitures of $500 pay per month for two months, and a reprimand.

- An E-4 repeatedly failed to be at work on time and then lied about it. Punishment consisted of reduction to E-3, suspended forfeitures of $1,017 pay per month for two months, and a reprimand.

- An E-4 deliberately forwarded official use information for unofficial purposes and to an unauthorized individual. Punishment consisted of reduction to E-3 and a reprimand.

- An E-3 tested positive on a random urinalysis for a prescription drug for which he had no valid prescription. Punishment consisted of reduction to E-2, forfeiture of $858 pay, 10 days extra duty, and a reprimand. The Airman was subsequently discharged.

- An E-2 failed to obey an order to report any hospitalization. Punishment consisted of reduction to E-1, suspended forfeiture of $200 pay per month for two months, and a reprimand. The Airman was subsequently discharged.

A military member is subject to involuntary separation if the member does not show a potential for further service. The most common bases for discharge are misconduct and unsatisfactory performance. A discharge can be characterized as honorable; under honorable conditions (general); or under other than honorable conditions.

- An E-5 was discharged with an honorable service characterization after she failed an alcohol abuse treatment program.

- An E-1 was discharged with a general characterization after multiple instances of misconduct. He recently received nonjudicial punishment for disobeying an order to report any hospitalization and previously received nonjudicial punishment for underage drinking during technical training.
