Secretary of the Air Force Deborah Lee James met with Airmen during a visit March 7 at Buckley Air Force Base.

After touring the base, James ate lunch with several Airmen, discussed the future of the Air Force and commended the work of Team Buckley.

"The importance of this mission is the support of our Airmen," James said.

James answered Airmen's questions during a Q-and-A event after lunch, responding to various inquiries about the Post 9/11 GI Bill, force reduction and upcoming budget plans.

James elaborated on the budget plans, which has been a concern for many Airmen. She discussed a potential gradual decrease in basic allowance for housing rates and reducing commissary subsidies, while explaining the importance of prioritizing the military's needs in order to move forward.

James intended to discuss these topics with members of Team Buckley at an all call, but was forced to leave earlier than expected due to inclement weather.
