460th MDG highlights Patient Safety Awareness month Published March 3, 2014 By Airman 1st Class Samantha Saulsbury 460th Space Wing Public Affairs BUCKLEY AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. -- The 460th Medical Group will highlight Patient Safety Awareness Week March 2-8 to promote annual education and awareness campaign for healthcare safety. The week is dedicated to safely and smartly eliminating patient injury caused by healthcare errors. During the week, the 460th MDG will have displays set up in the pharmacy, the Flight Medicine Clinic, the VA Joint Venture Buckley Clinic and the Buckley Health and Wellness Center from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. According to the National Patient Safety Foundation website, approximately 1 in every 10 medical diagnoses are wrong, delayed or missed completely, resulting in nearly 80,000 deaths per year in the U.S. The NPSF will be hosting a complimentary webinar series on the topic of diagnostic error during the week.
