Service members warned of new scam Published Feb. 24, 2014 460th Space Wing Public Affairs BUCKLEY AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. -- The Department of Defense Consolidated Adjudications Facility issued a warning to service members of a new personal security investigation scam. According to the DOD CAF, the email-based scam message begins with the following message: You are to contact the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Washington, D.C. to obtain your Clearance Certificate, find below their contact information's: Email: ivan-fong@gg.com. This is a fraudulent email address. The email makes an attempt to claim the offer is legitimate and tries to trick the recipient into paying $350. The scam also attempts to scare the recipient using phrases not typical of the U.S. government such as the following: WARNING: Failure to provide the above requirement in the next 24 hours, legal action will be taken immediately by arresting and detaining you as soon as an international court of justice issues a warrant of arrest. If you receive this or a similar email do not respond and immediately contact your unit security manager.
